In all of Sagain only these four “toot and see scroll” trees remained. The old tree herder had cast illusory Magick on the quartet. Observers saw only a stand of common purplanana bushes. A sorcerer’s Dispel Magick dweomer would remove the illusion, but why would a sorcerer waste Magick in a stand of purplananas and risk picking a purplanana’s fruit? Webs of deadly phase spiders intertwined with the purplanana’s leaves and thirteen fruits. The spider’s venom acted quickly. There was no antidote. Only a seventh level Cure Spell or one of the Thirteen Staves afforded any chance for the victim. Phase spiders always appeared three inchworm lengths to the right, left, front, or rear of their actual location. Also the dastardly spiders were proficient jumpers.
