Yannuvia’s party followed the path for a ways but slipped into the woods about two hours’ time. They edged along the woods until the Kiennish fortress came into view. During the trip, the six conversed little. The amber period began as they reached the fortress. The wall walk bustled with activity. The group stood in silence amid the trees. Drolls and Kiennites had felled many more trees since Yannuvia viewed the fort.
“They despoil the forest just as they did at Lone Oak meadow,” Klunkus avowed.
“Do you mean to attack?” Clouse asked.
“Yes,” Yannuvia replied curtly.
“I wouldn’t attack a castle with only six guys,” Clouse commented.
“I can’t say it as eloquently as our green friend, but the enemies are too many, Spellweaver,” Jonna added.
“Ready your bows. Take them down as they flee,” Yannuvia replied icily.
Abruptly Yannuvia stood and walked forward into the cleared area. The Spellweaver was beyond the range of the Kiennish archers on the wall walk, but the enemies in the ramparts saw him.
“Stay down!” Yannuvia ordered his five companions.
